MAG Magnetic Vehicle Concept by Matúš Procháczka

August 10th, 2008

A look at the popular movies of today would reveal the mind-set of people. Everyone wants to live in the future, driving futuristic automobiles that are realistically impossible, but appealing because of uber chic designs that lend a touch of fantasy to lives otherwise filled with the drudgery of work. Slovak designer Matúš Procháczka crosses the barrier between fantasy into reality by designing the MAG magnetic vehicle concept which appears futuristic and may also be viable, in time. The MAG magnetic vehicle concept is the winner of the Unseen Technology Award at the Interior Motives Design Award 2007.

The MAG appears slightly similar to the BatPod because of the huge back wheel but its working is different since it runs on a magnetic field generated by an electric engine. The magnetic field helps propel the MAG forward and would reduce the cars weight by half. However, the necessity for the every part of the vehicle to be magnetised causes a problem and hinders the chances of mass-production. Nevertheless, no one can find a problem with the creative design of the vehicle which includes individually adjustable seats created by fabric nets.
