Rainbow Desk by Allan Lake

September 27th, 2008

A rainbow does not necessarily need to have seven colours mixing into one another. It shows colours blending into one another without any borders, and the beauty of a rainbow is as much in its colours as it is in its curves.
The Rainbow Desk appears to take all this into consideration in being a desk full of curves. Designed by Allan Lake, the desk is reminiscent of the Sculpt Design furniture by Maarten Baas. These objects are made from numerous curves with not a single straight line, giving the viewer a sense of wavering lines and structures that seem to change in size every second. The desk looks both artistic and simple and is made from British native hardwoods.

The Rainbow Desk has three drawers, each curving in shape to be slightly smaller than its predecessor. The handles and legs look beautiful in almost every hue of brown to be found in woods.
