Cocoon Creates DJ Table For Red Bull
Sunday, October 19th, 2008 |Tags: cocoon, DJ Table, Nightclubs, Red Bull, Tables

Cocoon, the Canadian company, which is known for its unconventional designs, has this time designed a DJ Table for the eminent drink company, Red Bull. The table is created using wood and contains slotted cutouts. This space can be utilized to store vinyl records and the table suits the needs of a modern DJ too. The warm and minimalist hues of the wood are soothing and pleasant to the eyes.
However, at night when the club lights splash on the surface of the table, it looks ultra chic and could serve any party. Apparently, a second version of this cool table is being created. In my opinion, this table would serve cool places like the Buddha Bar in Paris or one of those chic nightclubs in London.

Moonlight Bulbs To Add Elan
Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 |Tags: Boutique Design, Concept, designer products, German Design, Lamps, Moonlight

Sometimes, all we need is some peace and some soothing music to go with. Imagine you are sitting by the pool and have wonderful music and an equally wonderful companion to keep you company? Well, it would be great only if the lighting was good enough.
Most of the days, when the moon isn’t up there in the sky, your pool can be quite dark and gloomy. The award winning Moonlight - Globe Lights is a unique concept that looks like a moon and isn’t a regular lighting device. These are unique in their own way and look soft and soothing and of course chic and elegant.
They are globe shaped and are available in various sizes and colors. You can in fact keep them indoors, outdoors or anywhere else you would like to. This concept surely blows my mind.

FormTank Unveils 2d3d Tables
Friday, September 12th, 2008 |Tags: 2d3d, FormTank, Industrial Design, Metal Origami, Tables

We have always been covering interesting furniture designs and this has to be one of the most interesting we have covered so far. FormTank recently launched 2d3d tables, and is a London based design company. The table looks slightly industrial, and quite beautiful. The table is cut from a single sheet of steel and is then folded into a position as can be seen in the final product.
This may remind you of metal origami and is sustainable and also reduces transportation and manufacturing costs. Very little steel that is used is discarded and you could be rest assured that you are not harming the environment with this stylish and industrial looking table. The table appears neat, clean and is ergonomic and would accentuate the chicness of your space. The table is yet to be released, and hence prices are not known yet.

Kyoto Table Brings Japanese Elegance
Thursday, September 11th, 2008 |Tags: Furniture, Japanese Designs, Kyoto Table, Tables

If you have ever been to Japan, or even watched Japanese homes, you would know that they usually have low-rise furniture and the decor usually looks minimalist. This is partly due to the fact that the country is always prone to earthquakes. However, the furniture looks not only minimalist but also chic and elegant, because it is low-rise. The Kyoti Table is inspired by these elements of minimalism, low-rise designs and of course elegance. This could be used as an attractive centerpiece.
It is available in different lengths and the opening tops give you access to some valuable additional storage. It also allows you to hide anything small, for example chargers, remotes, magazines, phone books etc. Any such thing on the table would always result in clutter. The tables come ion chocolate, wenge, pure white and textured white finishes and cost $984.99 each except the Textured White, which costs $789.99

Brain Lamp For An Eerie But Soft Light
Saturday, August 30th, 2008 |Tags: Brain, Brain Lamp, Home Décor, Lamps, Lervik Design

We have always wondered about the brain, and it still remains a mystery. Scientists have explored, experimented and dissected so much but there still remain a number of unsolved mysteries about this organ. While the scientists are still busy researching on the brain, the guys at the Lervik Design have created a cool Brain Lamp, which also is an accurate 3D modeling of the artist’s brain. He obtained the shape and image thanks to the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and used a 3D printer to create this awesome lamp.
You could use this lamp to decorate your bedroom and at night would look almost surreal. Though a little macabre, I’m sure you would love the soft light emitted through the artist’s real brain model. Now I’m sure you must be wondering if the designer has created lamps based on any other body parts. Well, for now, it is just the Brain Lamp. The pricing details are not known but we bet something like this must be priceless.

Wine must be the oldest beverage known to man. The oldest sample of wine was a 7000-year-old vintage from Shiraz, Iran. The fetish for wine has only grown in these thousands of years. Now, the fetish for wine drinking goes a step further and we introduce Carlo Rossi’s JugSimple Collection.
You might wonder if you really could sit on this Cabernet Couch, which seems to be supported by wine jugs. Well, you actually can. If you want to take this wine fetish a step further, you could also get yourself the Chardonnay Chandelier, Paisano Plasma TV Stand, Sangria Sound System, Burgundy Bookshelf, and Rhine Reading Lamp. Postmodern Clock With A Modern Inspiration
Sunday, August 24th, 2008 |Tags: Clock, Diamond Clock, George Nelson, Modern Design, Postmodernism

Modern era was started by the structuralists and the cubists, and both the schools gave birth to their own set of designers and design ideas. This clock design is a journey back in time to the modern era where the post modern was not known. The Diamond Clock by George Nelson brings back the classic modern design in a postmodern package and you would wonder about the fourth dimension. This perception defying design has a solid and stark design and would complement any mantle or desk.
The clock has black, white and red colors, which again reminds us of the modern age of design, back then in the 1950s. This Diamond Clock could be included in your home decor to bring a contrast to your postmodern house and savor the joy of modern designs. The Diamond Clock costs $350 and you could get it here. We would like to add that designing must not be limited to creating new designs but must reflect the history of great design and art movements such as cubism, for that is when one could appreciate a cool and chi design such as this.

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 |Tags: Boutique Hotel, Christchurch, Restaurant, The George Hotel, Warren & Mahoney

The City of Christchurch, New Zealand, is as English as it can get. The city also has some interesting architecture for visitors to admire. However, we are more interested in unique designs and that includes restaurants and boutique hotels. The George Hotel is perhaps the most famous in Christchurch and any person who has visited Christchurch would speak of it’s intimate luxury. The reception area has a single desk and the bar & the lounge look gorgeous with soft lighting and cream leather seats. Some of the suites have been refurbished by Warren and Mahoney.
The hotel’s Pescatore restaurant has some really high quality dining and has won many restaurant awards. The bedrooms are equipped with sleek and elegant furniture and king-sized bed. The bedroom is also equipped with a wide-screen TV and the lighting is again soft and soothing. The idea seems to create a hotel that is not only designed well, but that which also offers comfort, and of course homely warmth. It is often difficult to bring warmth to designing and the ones who designed The George Hotel definitely knew how! This beautiful designer hotel would welcome you, rain or shine, in the beautiful city of Christchurch, New Zealand.
