Fruit of Life Kitchen Concept Inspired by Forbidden Fruit Tree

Tags: , , ,

Our kitchens are where we take all the beauty and succulence that nature has given us to try and make it taste even better. Something so connected with nature should, then, perhaps look less like giants hunks of steel.

The Fruit of Life is a kitchen inspired by an apple tree. Designer Hieu Tranngoc and Hao Tran envisioned an apple tree laden with ripe fruits ready to be plucked and consumed. The kitchen concept includes a mini fridge, microwave oven, closet and, most importantly, an electric cooking top. It also has with it, the added bonus of an LCD screen with which you can connect to the internet and access cooking tips and recipes while in your kitchen itself. Apart from looking sleek, the Fruit of Life kitchen concept is also very practical. The curves and continuous lines of the design hide closets for kitchen necessities such as cutlery.

With the release of the new Sony PSP and its widespread success, you might have thought that Sony would immerse itself in celebrating its success instead of jumping right in with another amazing product.

The latest baby by Sony is a flexible OLED display that can be rolled up to become the most portable device possible. Designed by Tai Chiem, the display is infused with an electric charge that gives it a firm feel. This gaming device has stereo speakers on both sides which also work as a jog wheel and camera. The design may also come implemented with two joysticks. The design looks awesome although how ergonomic this can be as a handheld gaming device is still in doubt.

City Rack Secures Your Bicycle From Thieves’ Prying Eyes

Sunday, October 19th, 2008 |

Tags: , , , ,

The cities in Scandinavia are famous for their cycle stands and also Paris, where it was recently encouraged to ride cycles. The cycle thefts have however deterred many people to use their own cycles. Wherever you are, you probably will like to use cycles but hesitate thanks to all the thieves around you.

The City rack is a unique design that locks a cycle securely thanks to the rounded lock, which comes attached amazingly with the pillar. The thief may heave and puff, but he wouldn’t be able to take the cycle away. City Rack can be used from the back or front or however you want. This is going to be launched in New York City soon. An awesome design concept, we must say.

iSleep: Fall Asleep Over Your Laptop

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 |

Tags: , , ,

You’re working hard and working late, working crazy to finish that project on time. But your eyes have declared war over you and have decided that they don’t want to stay open. You wake up hours later and realise you had fallen asleep over your laptop.

If this is a familiar scenario with you, you need to get yourself the iSleep, and fast. The iSleep concept developed by German designer Ivonne Dippmann is a soft pillow that can be attached to your laptop. The iSleep works amazingly by filling itself with warm air when you fall asleep over your laptop, playing soothing music all the while. But an alarm goes off within ten minutes to ensure that you wake up and get back to work! iSleep uses the fan of the laptop to fill itself with air and this happens automatically the moment the laptop is closed; the music starts simultaneously. The alarm can also be individually adjusted so that you can sleep for longer if desired.

Scientists May Install Space Elevators In A Couple Of Decades

Sunday, October 5th, 2008 |

Here is a unique design that might help us to climb the ladders to space. The project, called the ‘Space elevator’ may help us to climb a metaphoric staircase that would help everyone to visit space and experience astronomic journeys. Scientists from the three major continents are working on a design, which may help you reach the sky, literally. It all boils down to the theory of inertia which means that if something should keep it’s velocity in one straight line, as long as it is not tampered with or external force is not applied. This means the cable will be stretched straight and the elevator ends up being in a geostationary orbit.

The cable would go up to the sky and connect to a satellite, which would be in space. This could help dispose off nuclear waste and also help normal people to experience space travel. There even is a $4 million prize for the one that designs a safe space elevator. It needs material that would span 30,000 kms.

Versa-Quatic: Ride Your Car

Friday, October 3rd, 2008 |

Tags: , , ,

With the amount of new designs that are put on show every day, car designers have to come up with more than just shiny painting of a bright casing on four wheels. Motor bike fans would be pleased to know that there may soon be cars that they can ride, instead of drive.

The Versa-Quatic by Versa is an automated car concept that can seat two. This car will allow you to ride it by grace of the unique seating position that it offers the driver, or in this case the rider. The driver will have complete control of the car via his whole body, unlike traditional cars which allow you to use only your arms and feet. Driving a Versa-Quatic will be a most fascinating experience because turning, speeding and stopping the car is done by different movements of the whole body of the driver.

A Personal Sub Concept To Take On The Deep waters

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 |

Tags: , , , , , ,

Like always, we are interested in subs and especially those that are designed in a unique fashion. We just found a concept for a Personal Submarine C-Quester Submersible, which looks like a promising design. The chic contours and the high tech look reminds you of a space ship that you might have seen in your dreams or possibly in a movie.

It comes in metallic colors and the inner segment can hold a pair of passengers. It would be interesting to know what this concept might turn out to be, when manufactured. For now, we have no information either about it’s pricing or if it is ever going to be manufactured.

I would say, the personal submarine may encourage people to go into hiding in deep blue waters far away from everyone else. But Imagine being stuck with a boring lo0ver or evn a psychotic lover! It kinda sends shivers down my spine.

Steampunk Phone by Arthur Schmitt: Back to the Past

Steampunk Phone
Humans are the most unpredictable of all animals. First they declare something old and unfashionable, then years later they suddenly drag it out of the closet and declare that it is back in fashion and extremely desirable. What’s with us?

Arthur Schmitt gets into the anciently modern game by designing a mobile that looks like something out of the fifties. Named the , the prototype is a wooden contraption with a heavy wire cover over the earpiece, a spinning number counter and gauges for gosh-knows-what. Apart from the primeval design, the mechanism of the phone is also just as prehistoric. Making calls on the phone is done with the help of punch cards using binary phone numbers.

A Single-Seater Helicopter Design

Sunday, September 28th, 2008 |

Tags: , , , , , ,

Ever wondered what its like to have your own helicopter and watch all the fun from the top? Well, now you could go ahead and buy a helicopter for yourself, thanks to a concept designed by Igarishi Design. However, you will need to wait till the concept gets manufactured.

This private helicopter is a single seater, which means you will need to know how to fly a helicopter before you try flying one. The flyer may need to know the basics of physics and chemistry and how the technology works as well. You obviously wouldn’t be able to fly it without any training.

The design strangely reminds me of a weird alien craft and looks pretty cool. It is small and worth trying, if you think you can fly your own helicopter. Moreover, it isn’t everyday you find a design where a helicopter looks like an alien robot or craft and is meant for a single passenger. I hope it gets manufactured soon!
