Sony PSP with Roll Up Display
Monday, October 20th, 2008 |Tags: flexible display, gaming, handheld, PSP, Sony
With the release of the new Sony PSP and its widespread success, you might have thought that Sony would immerse itself in celebrating its success instead of jumping right in with another amazing product.
The latest baby by Sony is a flexible OLED display that can be rolled up to become the most portable device possible. Designed by Tai Chiem, the display is infused with an electric charge that gives it a firm feel. This gaming device has stereo speakers on both sides which also work as a jog wheel and camera. The design may also come implemented with two joysticks. The design looks awesome although how ergonomic this can be as a handheld gaming device is still in doubt.

iSleep: Fall Asleep Over Your Laptop
Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 |Tags: iSleep, Ivonne Dippmann, laptop, pillow

You’re working hard and working late, working crazy to finish that project on time. But your eyes have declared war over you and have decided that they don’t want to stay open. You wake up hours later and realise you had fallen asleep over your laptop.
If this is a familiar scenario with you, you need to get yourself the iSleep, and fast. The iSleep concept developed by German designer Ivonne Dippmann is a soft pillow that can be attached to your laptop. The iSleep works amazingly by filling itself with warm air when you fall asleep over your laptop, playing soothing music all the while. But an alarm goes off within ten minutes to ensure that you wake up and get back to work! iSleep uses the fan of the laptop to fill itself with air and this happens automatically the moment the laptop is closed; the music starts simultaneously. The alarm can also be individually adjusted so that you can sleep for longer if desired.

Tivoli Audio Networks: the Ideal Radio
Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 |Tags: internet broadcasting, Radio, tivoli, Tivoli Audio Networks, Tom DeVesto

Radios have gone almost completely out of style. After all, with your iPods and mp3 enabled mobile phones, who needs a bulky radio when you have music at your fingertips? Tom DeVesto, CEO at Tivoli Audio, brings radios back with a bang.
The Tivoli Audio NetWorks radio is the product of a brainstorming session by DeVesto and his team of engineers while on the search to create the ideal radio. NetWorks radio works by picking up broadcasts from any radio station via Internet broadcasting. It can also access your PC to play music stored on your system through a wireless or Ethernet connection. It can even be connected to a stereo-speaker, CD player or sub-woofer but this is not required since it emits sound on its own.
Steampunk Phone by Arthur Schmitt: Back to the Past
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008 |Tags: Arthur Schmitt, mobile phone, punch cards, Steampunk Phone

Humans are the most unpredictable of all animals. First they declare something old and unfashionable, then years later they suddenly drag it out of the closet and declare that it is back in fashion and extremely desirable. What’s with us?
Arthur Schmitt gets into the anciently modern game by designing a mobile that looks like something out of the fifties. Named the , the prototype is a wooden contraption with a heavy wire cover over the earpiece, a spinning number counter and gauges for gosh-knows-what. Apart from the primeval design, the mechanism of the phone is also just as prehistoric. Making calls on the phone is done with the help of punch cards using binary phone numbers.
A Single-Seater Helicopter Design
Sunday, September 28th, 2008 |Tags: Automobiles, chopper, Concept, Helicopter, Igarishi Design, Learn To Fly, transport
Ever wondered what its like to have your own helicopter and watch all the fun from the top? Well, now you could go ahead and buy a helicopter for yourself, thanks to a concept designed by Igarishi Design. However, you will need to wait till the concept gets manufactured.
This private helicopter is a single seater, which means you will need to know how to fly a helicopter before you try flying one. The flyer may need to know the basics of physics and chemistry and how the technology works as well. You obviously wouldn’t be able to fly it without any training.
The design strangely reminds me of a weird alien craft and looks pretty cool. It is small and worth trying, if you think you can fly your own helicopter. Moreover, it isn’t everyday you find a design where a helicopter looks like an alien robot or craft and is meant for a single passenger. I hope it gets manufactured soon!

It has double-sided transparent flexible screens too, to add to the chicness. The design consists of 3 expandable, foldable, and flexible screens and they come with an extra wide central view which helps you read your notes or books in a better way. There also are multi touch screens, which have touch-evoked keyboards which can be resized according to your wish.
If interaction is what you are looking at, it comes with 3D projection module and a web cam and conference facili8ty. The green product is shock proof so it wouldn’t hurt to drop it once or twice. It is Bluetooth enabled and is designed ergonomically. This has to be one of the coolest folder designs ever.

Dutch Tub: Portable Eco-Friendly Hot Tub
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 |Tags: Dutch Tub, Eco-friendly, Floris Schoonderbeek, Hot Tub

We all desire our own hot tub and we want to be able to set it up anywhere we go. Imagine grudgingly agreeing to go on that backpacking trip to the woods and being amazingly overjoyed with the great view of the mountains and the vast valleys below you. But you are still dirty from that trek up to your campsite and tired out and aching from trying to set up the tent with a bunch of other amateurs. You really need to soak in some hot water.
Floris Schoonderbeek has designed a portable hot tub that be set up any place you want it. This Dutch designer’s hot tub works by heating the water from a simple set up of fire. The mechanism involves getting the set up ready at least two and half hours before you are ready to take a dip, because the simple use of fire in coils of iron means heating a large amount of water takes a damn long time.
Users must also be sure to remember that the fire should be put out after use, unless it goes off while you’re in the middle of your bath. Still, this is a quite eco-friendly method because you don’t need electricity or set up a generator that guzzles diesel.

Da Vinci Alarm Clock Ensures You Only Sleep Four Hours
Friday, September 19th, 2008 |Tags: alarm, da Vinci alarm clock, da Vinci code, Marc Owens, Sleep

If you watched the Da Vinci Code and wondered if daylight saving time can really help you, then perhaps this new clock just might interest you. You don’t have to be a master cryptographer to reap its benefits and avail its excellent time saving mechanism. Instead of setting the time back by one hour, the Da Vinci Alarm Clock will ensure that you get 21hours of waking time without wasting too much time on sleep for a most productive day.
Designed by Marc Owens, the alarm clock helps stick to a 3.5/.5 sleep schedule. The clock displays the words AWAKE or SLEEP instead of time, the first for three and half hours and the latter for half an hour in a four hour cycle that repeats six times a day. Following this simple instruction would give the user, supposedly, 21hours of waking time without feeling drowsy or drained out. If this really works, it would be great but I think it would be slightly hard to convince your boss you need a half hour of sleep for optimum performance during an office meeting.
