Punch the !ighting: Punch the Lights On
Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 |Tags: Designer, destress, exercise, Jum Bum Park, Kim Jin Sook, Lighting, punch bag, Punch the !ighting

The toaster spit out burnt bread, the traffic is horrible and your boss refuses to let you take a break from work. You’re losing your mind and all you want to do at the end of the day is vent out all your frustrations on the punching bag, but the gym is closed, too!
It doesn’t matter because you can head right home and punch the lights on. Punch the !ighting is a punching bag with an LED light within that would switch on once you start punching the bag. Designed by Jum Bum Park and Kim Jin Sook, the punching bag light is meant to de-stress and refresh your mind. This would be a great product to have around if you are often stressed out into throwing and breaking your favourite things. You get to punch this and still be left with the lights intact.
Bag Stuck in a Tree: Pendant Light
Saturday, September 27th, 2008 |Tags: Appliances, Bag Stuck in a Tree, ed vince, garbage, lamp, Pendant Light, plastic bag

You must have walked through your neighbourhood and seen this sort of thing a dozen times a week. Children playing would leave kites and footballs stuck high up in the branches of a tree, and it looks good because it tells you that the kids in the neighbourhood are an active lot. What is not very appealing is to see plastic bags stuck up in trees; garbage on the streets is more than enough.
However, Ed Vince has a more artistic vision of this occurrence. Vince saw a bag stuck in a tree and decided it would be a great design for a light. His Pendant Light, also called a Bag Stuck in a Tree, looks much like a bag stuck to the branches of a tree and with an ominous glow from within. Vince states that the sight of a plastic bag stuck to a tree and flying in the wind, glowing with the warm light of the sun is a mesmerising sight.
To make his lamp even more realistic, the stand is made from actual tree branches and the light of the lamp is kept diffused with a real plastic bag. Altering between different coloured bags would also give you the option of changing the look of your room.

Oluce Colombo Desk Lamp: Retro but Chic
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 |Tags: Appliances, Desk Lamp, Joe Colombo, Oluce

Appliances all through the house and even in the office setting have to blend in with the background and become a part of the decor that has been painstakingly accomplished. Sometimes, it is hard to find certain appliances that seem to be just right for the style that you have favoured. Perhaps it has been difficult to find the right table lamp.
Stop looking through catalogues and take a glance of something retro because sometimes even simple appliances seem to be launched way ahead of its time when it comes to style and practicality. The Colombo desk lamp is extremely chic as a simple curved piece of glass. Designed by Joe Colombo in 1962, the lamp has a Perspex diffuser that gives out light indirectly.
The glass piece sits attached to the diffuser housed within a lacquered steel base. The Oluce Colombo desk lamp stands at just 23cms and is available for the extravagant price of £1,237.

Grito: Slide a Lampshade onto Your Bulb
Monday, September 8th, 2008 |Tags: abat day grito, aluminium, El ultimo grito, grito, Lampshade

Lampshades are ways of accessorising your bulbs to add beauty to your rooms. Apart from the practical purpose of restricting the light to a certain location, they also cover up the nude light with something with something that would stick to the decor of your house. Lampshades come in all kinds of materials: fabric, plastic, glass, and recently, even a sheep stomach lampshade. But the mess of trying to screw in your lampshade sometimes makes you forget it completely, and that is what is special about the Grito. The Grito can be easily fixed onto a bulb and removed when desired.
The Grito is an aluminium lampshade that has a slit along its side. It can be slid onto the wire of an existing bulb fitting easily via the slid and would hang on the bulb without slipping off because of the tight neck. The Abat day Grito can be used when you want to restrict light, perhaps over your worktable, and then removed for when you want the whole room to be in light. Designed by El Ultimo Grito, it is available at 100 euro in green, red and metallic.

Brain Lamp For An Eerie But Soft Light
Saturday, August 30th, 2008 |Tags: Brain, Brain Lamp, Home Décor, Lamps, Lervik Design

We have always wondered about the brain, and it still remains a mystery. Scientists have explored, experimented and dissected so much but there still remain a number of unsolved mysteries about this organ. While the scientists are still busy researching on the brain, the guys at the Lervik Design have created a cool Brain Lamp, which also is an accurate 3D modeling of the artist’s brain. He obtained the shape and image thanks to the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and used a 3D printer to create this awesome lamp.
You could use this lamp to decorate your bedroom and at night would look almost surreal. Though a little macabre, I’m sure you would love the soft light emitted through the artist’s real brain model. Now I’m sure you must be wondering if the designer has created lamps based on any other body parts. Well, for now, it is just the Brain Lamp. The pricing details are not known but we bet something like this must be priceless.
