Kids driving you up the walls with their wailings for new toys when the last few remote-controlled cars you bought were flushed down the toilet and fed to the dog (RIP, Tommy)? They wouldn’t be so frustrated with those boring old cars if you got them something new and really cool, like a remote controlled car. Don’t get the drift? Try the Air Hog Zero Gravity Micro R/C car, and your kids would be driving them up the walls. This cool toy doesn’t just zoom all over your floors but can also race up the sides of your walls and the underside of your tables.

The gravity-defying ability of the toy car is thanks to a powerful fan on the underside of the car that creates suction to hold the car to the wall. It is powered by rechargeable batteries, but they do eat up a lot of power. A single charge can only run the car for about ten minutes. The Air Hog Zero Gravity cars are barely 5” long, controlled by infrared remote and are available in various designs and colours. Forget your kids; I know you want these little beauties all to yourself. You can get them from Firebox for £30 or from Amazon for $47.

Feeling nostalgic about the old days when you would huddle over your cassette player and curse it for chewing up your most favourite Guns n Roses tape? You can’t really go back in time and start playing cassettes again, not when you know that they really are such a mess and playing music on your iPod is seriously so much better and sounded greater. But if you are really missing your cassettes, you could opt for this USB hub that looks like a retro cassette tape.

The 4 port USB 2.0 hub might not play you great music, but it sure would be useful and carries a great design. You might not want to try and fool your friends into making them play this, though. No idea what would happen if you tried doing that. But if this idea interests your wicked mind, or you really want a cool looking new USB hub, then the Cassette Tape USB hub goes for about $24 and is available at the UK gadget shop I Want One Of Those.

Move over Spiderman. The real spiders are here to take over the world, well, at least Liverpool. A 50 foot mechanical spider has been erected on the walls of a building about to be demolished. The spider is set to wake up from its hibernation on Sunday, crawl down the walls of the building and terrorise the people of Liverpool, creating havoc around its streets. And all this in the name of tourism. Somehow, I think someone made a typo while releasing a press report. The idea of a giant spider roaming around the streets seems more to evoke terror-ism than tourism!

The spider, named La Princesse, cost £1.5 million, weights 37 tons is made with 50 hydraulic axes of movement. It even includes a few seats on its back because, really, a lot of people would want to ride this monster. François Delarozière, the creator of La Princesse, has been keeping pretty quiet about the appearance of his monster lab creation, and most of the public were unaware that a giant spider would be set loose amongst them until it made its appearance on the walls of the building. No idea yet on what would happen when Delarozière decides to create a mate for his acromantula.

Speakers come in all shapes and designs these days with designers taking inspiration from anything, from leaves to shoelaces (just stretching it a bit far there). But if the wine glass speakers that had made an appearance sometime ago do not fascinate you then perhaps something more healthy and closer to nature may appeal to you. Like peas all snug and cosy in their pod. The Pea Speaker system has six pea shaped though not pea sized speakers that sit atop one another in their transparent pea pod.

Designed by Lu Le, the pea speakers work through wireless Bluetooth. Only one amongst the six peas controls the global volume. Each of the peas can easily be taken out of the pod and separated from its mates to be scattered around the room to a feel of surround sound. The white-balled peas are powered by lithium ion battery that is recharged through induction as it sits safely in its pod. Unfortunately, the Pea Speaker still remains a concept, but let’s hope it enters production real soon!

At first glance, this may appear as a pram designed for extremely spoilt self-indulgent adults. It is not a pram, but what is wrong with a little self-indulgence now and then in this over-stressed world? The OSIM uSPace is a massage chair built from airbag-style cushions that surround whichever part of the body is being rubbed to apply a sense of pressure. The uSpace intends to leave you completely relaxed- mentally, physically, and emotionally- with several combinations of mood light, synchronised music and massage programmes.

Set the colour of your choice (ranging between different hues of blue, turquoise and green light that moves in a rhythmic pattern), the desired music and the massage type to soothe and calm your mind and body. If more than just relaxation is needed, you can choose options that will induce a deep sleep. The pram-like cover cocoons you from external vies and sounds and the leather upholstery of the full-body massaging chair will increase your sense of well-being. OSIM uSpace allows you to connect your mp3 player to it so that the music emanating from it is in tune with you. A central remote gives you complete control over the whole experience. The only time the uSpace can possibly give you a cardiac arrest is when you see the price tag of $6000.

Ever fallen asleep in your bathtub because you had gotten bored of seeing the same old shaped tub wherever you went? What about trying to handle screaming kids who don’t want to take a shower? Designer bathrooms will take your breath away and you will never want to go a day without taking a shower in the beautiful bathrooms. The Rotator is a huge semi-ball like contraption that works both as a shower and a bathtub. It is designed by artist/architect Ron Arad and made its first appearance in April of this year at the International Furniture Fair in Milan.

The half-sphere is slim and fitted close to the wall on one end and is plump and hollow at the opposite end. The user only has to choose which part of the Rotator he wants to choose and rotate it so that the plump part is at the bottom if a bathtub is desired or on top if a shower is required. Draining the water from the bathtub after a dip is easy enough because it only needs to be rotated for the water to stream out. The Rotator, made from duralight material from Teuco, would save space, fitted to a bathroom wall and would also look super cool.

After all, what do you do when you really want to get back to nature and live in the middle of the lake or house yourself amongst the trees? The Lifepod is designed to allow you to camp anywhere your heart desires. This fully-functioning mini-capsule has been created as a highly portable system that can be set up hung betwixt trees several feet off the ground, floating on calm waters or more traditionally on hard ground.

Since its conception in 1997, Lifepods are being created using the most recent automotive, aeronautic, nautical and RV technologies. These quadrupedal fuselages have footings that can be adjusted depending upon the location and manner in which it is being set up. This prefabricated home-away-from-home fits into a 40 ft container. If this appeals to you but you have no plans of camping anywhere except in your own backyard, you may opt for the Lifepod Capsule: a miniature version that can be used as a daily retreat for personal space.

Ever tried to take a seat in a chair that just didn’t seem to want to accept your bottom? You fidget and turn this way and that and cross your legs and pull them up onto the seat, but you still can’t find a comfortable spot to rest your aching behind. Don’t let it bother you too much, not when the Wave Seat is here. Designed to shape like a wave, this seat, titled Noah, can comfortably accommodate every bottom of different shapes and sizes, ahum.

The Noah Wave Seatdesign that customises itself to every individual’s bottom shape is possible through the use of polymers infused with nanotube. When electric current passes through them at the moment of use, the nanotubes would stretch and contract, acquiring the shape of the user after stiffening and softening into shape. Designed by Jung Hoon Rhee, the concept would be ideal to be used for seats in vehicles and also to transport fragile cargo.

People can do anything to take their music with them everywhere they go. it is almost as though music sets the rhythm for our brain waves, in turn affecting the way we feel and react to situations. Reindy Allendra has incorporated his love and need for music into his bike design, the Polygon, coming up with something that looks like a mix between a music player and a bicycle. Like most of us, Reindy believes music plays a great influence on our lives and is a part of our lifestyle.

The Polygon appears quite cool and futuristic in black and white with a design to wow you. All sleek lines and curves, the steering wheel has a display attached which includes the music player. What’s more, the battery for the player is charged by the wheel cycle, ensuring that your player will beat out its rhythm for you so long as you keep cycling. Excess energy is stored for later use. This bike just might kick off real fast if it gets into production.
