Alien Craft Designed by Kevin Brown Requires Sponsors
Thursday, August 21st, 2008 |Tags: Alien Craft, aliens, identified flying object, Kevin Brown, Sponsors, UFO, VTOHLJATT

From the Roswell generation to the X-files generation, everyone is aware what a UFO is. But what is an IFO? An Identified Flying Object? Kevin Brown has designed the VTOHLJATT- a Vertical Takeoff Hover Landing Jet Aerial Terrestrial Transport. Pretty much a chopper without the blades, since it is a VTOL. But it is the alien-craft design of the IFO which makes it extremely appealing. Brown is looking for investors for this 4 to 7 seater aircraft, so if you’re interested in flying one of these babies you might as well help out with making this dream a reality.
The VTOHLJATT has four jet vectored thrust engines capable of nearly 5000 static, and counter rotation turbo fan-jets that can vertically lift up this 300 pound aircraft. Brown may be seeking funding for a project that many people would love to fly, but there seems to be many faults with his design. Starting with the fact that it isn’t appreciated much by the public from whom he is searching for sponsorship! Perhaps if Brown designs a sleeker version of the IFO, he could generate more interest. He needn’t look far for inspiration. Just call Mulder and look up at the sky!

‘Aliens’ Now Hooked to Chess
Thursday, August 21st, 2008 |Tags: Alien chess, aliens, Chess, chessboard, Designer, James Cameron, movie, Oscar, Product, Sigourney Weaver

Some things are difficult to forget. Truly, the Hollywood flick Aliens would be one of those things for all of us who watched the film. There are a number of animation games inspired by movies but it is very rarely that one gets to see this kind of art and brains at work. Perhaps the need to be different explains why the developers chose to design a chess board bringing alive the characters out of the movie. This exclusive Aliens Chess Set recreates the magic by having space marines and the aliens together. It is based on the fight between queen alien and the marines who want to out wit her. Having figures out of the movie in shades of bronze and gold, this is a sure shot collector’s piece.

The Third Space: Other Worldy Space by German Design Students
Wednesday, August 13th, 2008 |Tags: Academy of Fine Arts, aliens, cable ties, coccoon, Design Students, German, Munich, The Third Space

The most difficult task designers face is the task of revealing through physical materials abstract concepts. How could you possibly show love and longing when you’ve only been given the use of fibreglass and steel? But that is just what designers do. These visionaries can carry out such apparently impossible tasks and place in front of our eyes pieces of creation that cannot be called anything less than art. The heavenly looking picture above shows a part of the creation brought about by 52 design students who were asked to create worlds that symbolised concepts such as self-portrayal and community.
The German students from the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, were challenged to build a 200sqm space and did so in just 16870 hours. The piece, titled ‘The Third Space’, looks futuristic and other-worldly, we almost expect a white winged and feathered man with golden eyes to walk out and greet us into his abode. The Third Space in its entirety was created using 1.3 million cable ties. Embedded among the webs of white mesh are cocoons slashed open that seem to invite us to sit down and rest our body and soul. The Third Space has been made open for visitors for a short duration of time, owing to the fact that this striking creation is only temporary. After all, what goes up, must come down.
