Sqoosh Seat by Kimming Yap

Waiting rooms are quite unpopular with people, especially because of the seating arrangement where people are required to sit next to strangers, sometimes squashed against them in uncomfortably crowded spaces. Creativeans Studio has always had a host of creative ideas for problems such as this and Kimming Yap, one of the leaders of the studio, has come up with a solution in the form of Sqoosh. Sqoosh is a hip looking backless seat that would be quite perfect for waiting rooms.

Yap reports that the wave like design of the Sqoosh seat was inspired by the ‘upward trend of anti-socialism’. Each Sqoosh seat has a bunch of waves right in the middle of it so that strangers would be separated by space that can easily occupy magazines. Made of fibreglass, Sqoosh is available in blue, pink neon and pearly white. You can check out the rates and order them for your office waiting room or even your home at the Creativeans site.

In a bid to produce eco-friendly and bio-degradable products, designers are opting to create more and more goods from wood. And what can be better than bamboo when it comes to going au naturel? The use of bamboo has been incorporated into the making of so many products that it has become the style ingredient of today’s eco-conscious generation. It may have begun with bamboo chairs and bamboo tables but the reign of bamboo has moved on to high tech products like laptops in a design revolution.

The amazing flexibility that bamboo offers makes it an ideal type of wood to be used in the production of complexly shaped creations. The fact that it is lightweight and pleasant on the eye is just another bonus for the designers and the consumers of bamboo products. The esprit of bamboo is seen in the different products below which includes the spring chair by Anthony Marschak, veneer plates and cutlery from Branch, bamboo bowl from Dandi, bamboo plates and nesting baskets from Remodern, sushi table from Legnoart, bamboo laptop by Asus’ Ecobook and Becca stool by Marschak. The first picture is a chair designed by Remy Veenhuizen.

Nelson Bench Remake Shocks You With It’s Stark And Simple Design

Tags: , , , , ,

Nelson Design was originally designed in 1946 when it was at the forefront of a new wave movement in designing furniture. We expect you to not confuse this with the new wave music. The design combines form and function in tandem and looks amazingly beautiful. It could be what all the postmodernists would love, for you not only bring a little bit of history but also go a step beyond the current with this range of Nelson Furniture. The remade version of the bench measures 4 ft and 6 ft and looks noble and humble.
The design is an understatement of sorts, though, in a good artistic way. It would be like stripping your exquisitely designed room of it’s chicness with Nelson Bench remake’s simplicity. The bench is so designed that it can withstand many pounds of weight and can be used a seating area, display area, to keep plants, or anything else that would occur in your mind. Since a number of colors are available, you can choose the one that suits your room’s design the best. The benches cost $259 to $299. Get the Nelson Bench remake here.
