When bike lover Ed got bored of his old bicycle, he did what most of us wouldn’t do. Instead of throwing it to the bins, he went and upgraded the bike creating a new and improved version that turned it into a gas powered bike that he proudly title the Houghmade Cycle Works 71.

The bike was slapped together from a ‘90s vintage Huffy cruiser that makes up the frame and Husky wheels with the added bonus of 11 thick steel spokes. With a Honda GXH50 (49.4cc) engine (2.5hp), the retro appearing bike can do 40mph on the highway with 120+mpg and can screech to a stop with a coatser brake and callipers up front and at the rear. Powering this brand new bicycle-engine is a ½ gallon steel tank covered with a ¼” foam board coated with fleece and fibreglass resin. Done up all in white with vintage style Kenda tyres, the Houghmade Cycle a white speedometer with a custom face mounted in the headlight (bought off eBay).

A bike ride is always a pleasure. You are going slow enough to watch the kids running by and smell the flowers alongside the path. But you have overdone yourself; you are tired, your back and neck are aching, not to mention that very sensitive part of your body that is sitting upon the seat. You really need to change your position but it is impossible to do so.
The Rosta has been designed with this discomfort in mind. The bicycle is designed so that the user is seated in the most comfortable position on the bike, which turns out to be lying halfway upon the bike. This position takes most of the strain off your upper body, relieving you from those deadly back aches. With comfort as the highest priority, the design of the bike came up after intensive research into this.

The Rosta also looks extremely sleek and unlike any other bike on the road. It appears as though it is a cross between a futuristic bike and an exercise bicycle. Whatever may be the design, the cost of manufacturing this would definitely be very high.

Polygon: Music Player Infused Bike

People can do anything to take their music with them everywhere they go. it is almost as though music sets the rhythm for our brain waves, in turn affecting the way we feel and react to situations. Reindy Allendra has incorporated his love and need for music into his bike design, the Polygon, coming up with something that looks like a mix between a music player and a bicycle. Like most of us, Reindy believes music plays a great influence on our lives and is a part of our lifestyle.

The Polygon appears quite cool and futuristic in black and white with a design to wow you. All sleek lines and curves, the steering wheel has a display attached which includes the music player. What’s more, the battery for the player is charged by the wheel cycle, ensuring that your player will beat out its rhythm for you so long as you keep cycling. Excess energy is stored for later use. This bike just might kick off real fast if it gets into production.
