Friday, August 29th, 2008 |Tags: Furniture, gorilla, ICFF06, LIFT, Ooh Ooh, Pichaya
Talk about furniture pieces becoming more and more stylish, so stylish, in fact, that they don’t appear to be furniture. This design for a furniture piece will make you go ooh, literally, because that is what it has been named! Designed by Pichaya, a member of LIFT, the Ooh Ooh is crafted in the shape of a gorilla. It is also evident that this piece has been intended for women because the designers swear the gorilla is male (although I can’t tell from the pics!)

Nelson Design was originally designed in 1946 when it was at the forefront of a new wave movement in designing furniture. We expect you to not confuse this with the new wave music. The design combines form and function in tandem and looks amazingly beautiful. It could be what all the postmodernists would love, for you not only bring a little bit of history but also go a step beyond the current with this range of Nelson Furniture. The remade version of the bench measures 4 ft and 6 ft and looks noble and humble.

Ever since Robin Williams played the amorous and affable robot in the Bicentennial Man, almost everyone has been desiring a machine that can judge how we feel without being told and act accordingly. Whether it is the desire for someone to wipe away our tears or share some warmth, humans tend to search for emotions in every which place when it doesn’t come naturally from others around them. Perhaps, we are doomed to become even colder towards our significant others in the future because the world is already getting ready to give us machines that would provide us with company during misery.

MotoArt has been known for giving wings to the fantasies of people. Earlier they have provided us with treasure troves such as B52 Stratofortress Ejector Seat Office Chair and the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet Engine Cowling Reception Desk but their new offering beats it all. The Mile High Bed launched by them is a sure recommendation for people who live and dream about aviation. The bed measures 11′ in length and 7′ 6″ in width, and is fabricated with two DC-9 (passenger jet) rear stabilisers and a C-130 (military cargo aircraft) inner flap.

Sit in Saucers, in Style!
Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 |Tags: design, Designer, Furniture, Lounge, Low Lin Kiat, Low lounger

Sometimes we just want to look apart from the crowd. The same goes for our homes- we want it to look unique yet comfortable. Designer Low Lin Kiat has come up with a unique design for low-lying seaters. Shaped like single flower petals the lounger can be arranged singularly or if space permits, you can have and entire set of them placed around a center table. Shaped like a saucer, the lounger allows you easy space but is without any backrest. But, in case you want to lie down in a half reclining position, it has the perfect design for that. The set up can be suitably used to have your evening tea or even to work, placing your laptop and files on the glass top table. As for me, I would rather exchange it for a good old beanbag any day.
