Scientists May Install Space Elevators In A Couple Of Decades

Here is a unique design that might help us to climb the ladders to space. The project, called the ‘Space elevator’ may help us to climb a metaphoric staircase that would help everyone to visit space and experience astronomic journeys. Scientists from the three major continents are working on a design, which may help you reach the sky, literally. It all boils down to the theory of inertia which means that if something should keep it’s velocity in one straight line, as long as it is not tampered with or external force is not applied. This means the cable will be stretched straight and the elevator ends up being in a geostationary orbit.

The cable would go up to the sky and connect to a satellite, which would be in space. This could help dispose off nuclear waste and also help normal people to experience space travel. There even is a $4 million prize for the one that designs a safe space elevator. It needs material that would span 30,000 kms.

Here is a design, which aims to take digital technology to a greater level, a level that we still have not heard of. This sleek and chic folder comes with detachable processing unit and also a textbook feature, which allows you to read books or not down in minutes.

It has double-sided transparent flexible screens too, to add to the chicness. The design consists of 3 expandable, foldable, and flexible screens and they come with an extra wide central view which helps you read your notes or books in a better way. There also are multi touch screens, which have touch-evoked keyboards which can be resized according to your wish.

If interaction is what you are looking at, it comes with 3D projection module and a web cam and conference facili8ty. The green product is shock proof so it wouldn’t hurt to drop it once or twice. It is Bluetooth enabled and is designed ergonomically. This has to be one of the coolest folder designs ever.

Lotus Room: Future Room by Zaha Hadid Arhitects

Rooms of the future are going to be unlike nothing you ever expected. You might have heard of Lotus rooms before, but it probably put into your mind smoke filled dim lit rooms packed with people sitting around with lit stubs in their fingers or hookahs hanging from limp hands. The Lotus room of the future, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, will clear your mind in a jiffy and transport you to a world where things contract and expand as you wish.

The Lotus room can fluctuate between two states of either expansion or contraction, allowing you to choose between rooms that are spacey or condensed, appearing to be cocoon from the outside world. The mobile status of the room is achieved by interwoven layers which fold and unfold to provide furniture when the room expands when desired. The concept leaves the owner with a flexible ever-changing view of the room. The Lotus room will be on show between the 10th and 23rd of this November at the 11th Venice Architecture Biennale.

Lexus Nuaero: Futuristic Car by Jon Rådbrink

The aerial view of it makes it appear like the BatMobile, a side view makes it look like a darker version of the pod that Superman arrived on earth in, and checking it out from the front will just simply make your jaws drop down in drooling wonder. That is the effect that the Lexus Nuaero has on most people. This sleek black-shined concept car has been designed by Jon Rådbrink to appear futuristic enough to knock your eyeballs out.

Even the features of the Lexus Nuaero are futuristic as Rådbrink has eliminated steering wheel, opting instead for a drive by wire system with multi-point touch screen. The feet pedals have been thrown away and the breaking mechanism works by applying pressure on the steering wheel. The car is powered by electrical motors and is low weight which would help increase the mileage. This 14.5ft car will hopefully make it to the market, if only for the mind-blowing design if not for the features.

The design of the watercraft, rightly called AQUA is completely futuristic. The aim of the design is solve the space crunch and add a little bit of zeal in your life by making it possible from you to be a dolphin once in a while. It is moving one step ahead of people living on shikaras in Dal Lake in India. It is a one manned ship and intends to run very fast both on and under water. The designers though have not disclosed as to what source of power it will utilize. If the design succeeds, it will allow one to float on water as well as take dive into it, like a mermaid/ merman.

Futuristic Transport Designs by St.Petersburg State Academy of Art and Industry

Futuristic designs have taken over almost every facet of our life. Perhaps the field that has been most influenced by futurism is the automobile field. St. Petersburg State Academy of Art and Industry reveals several of their project designs for diplomas of Transport Design at the Department of Design. The designs seem to forecast the successful future careers of the students at the academy under the fruitful guidance of talented and inspiring teachers.

Designs developed by Katerina Aleshina and Vitaliy Kamishev for the concept of an urban vehicle which could have an advantage over other vehicles appear to be an innovative bus that can travel over public roads as well as trestles.

Aleksey Bondarev’s design of the Cargo Cycle intended for large sites, such as warehouses, within 3kms is a chic melange of an exercise bike and a loader that can handle over 50kgs of weight. Since it is pedal-driven, it requires no fuel and would thus be eco-friendly and healthy for the user, too.

Olga Sall has designed the SKAT, a tourist submarine which appears to seat eight people and has translucent covering so that the beautiful underwater scene maybe viewed, perhaps on the way to an underwater resort.

Ivan Striganov’s design of the Patrol ion-plane appears quite similar to the submarine SKAT, but is apparently intended for security. The space shuttle looks quite a bit like a drawing from an H.G Well’s story.
