Ooh Ooh Chair: Fall Asleep in the Arms of a Gorilla

Talk about furniture pieces becoming more and more stylish, so stylish, in fact, that they don’t appear to be furniture. This design for a furniture piece will make you go ooh, literally, because that is what it has been named! Designed by Pichaya, a member of LIFT, the Ooh Ooh is crafted in the shape of a gorilla. It is also evident that this piece has been intended for women because the designers swear the gorilla is male (although I can’t tell from the pics!)

The Ooh Ooh can be detached and transformed into different pieces, so lounging on the gorillas back would be just as easy as using his head for a pillow. The Ooh Ooh is meant to underline the trend furniture design has taken in recent years in giving more importance for the look over comfort. Created for ICFF06, the Ooh Ooh gorilla is merely a concept and is not planned for production. This greatly disappoints me because ever since I watched ‘Baby’s Day Out’ I’ve wanted to fall asleep in the arms of a gorilla.
